Suzanne Hughes Sullivan is an emerging artist of note among collectors of traditional realism, with a rapidly expanding reputation on a regional and national level for her award winning work. A member of the Oil Painters of America, her work has been juried into the Eastern Regional show for the last three years. Suzanne is also a member of The Atlanta Artists’ Center and her painting, Two Oranges, received an Award of Merit and the Peoples Choice Award in the 2010 National Show. Most recently, her painting Twilight Illumination was juried into the Salon International. She is represented by the Atlanta Art Gallery and the Red Bird Gallery in Seaside, FL.
A classically trained realist painter heavily influenced by the Dutch and Flemish masters of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Suzanne describes her work as having a decidedly old world atmosphere. "For me, it's all about the light. Dramatic lighting helps creative strong, dramatic compositions. My primary goal is to draw the viewer in from across the room, where they can then closer inspect and appreciate brushwork and technique."
